A PSA Death Certificate is an official civil-registry document containing recorded information about a deceased person. It may be requested for estate settlement, insurance, pension or benefit claims, banking, property transactions, government processing, and other legal or administrative purposes.
Before you order: confirm the document you actually need
Ask the receiving institution whether it needs a printed PSA Death Certificate on Security Paper, a PSA E-Certificate, a viewable online document, or another supporting record. Ordering the wrong format can create avoidable delays even when the civil-registry information itself is correct.
Information to prepare
The Philippine Statistics Authority lists key information that helps verify and issue a Death Certificate request. Prepare the deceased person’s complete name, date of death, place of death, the requester’s complete name and address, the number of copies needed, and the purpose of the certification. The online channel may also request identity, relationship, delivery, or authorization details.
Choose an authorized PSA online channel
Start from the official PSA Death Certificate page. PSA identifies authorized online channels that include PSAHelpline and PSA Serbilis. Avoid ordering through unofficial social-media pages or websites that cannot be verified from PSA.
Step-by-step online request
- Select Death Certificate. Double-check that you are not ordering a Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, CENOMAR, or another civil-registry document.
- Enter the deceased person’s details carefully. Use names, dates, and places as they appear in the civil registry whenever possible.
- Provide the requester information. Follow the service’s current identity, relationship, authorization, and privacy requirements.
- Choose the available format or delivery method. Printed delivery, pickup, viewable online, or E-Certificate availability can differ by channel.
- Review the total fee before paying. PSA announced in February 2026 that the redesigned PSA Serbilis service lists a Death Certificate at ₱330 per copy for delivery within the Philippines, with tiered pricing for multiple copies. Other authorized channels or formats may show a different total, so rely on the checkout amount shown by the service you use.
- Pay only through the authorized checkout. Save your payment confirmation and order/reference number.
- Track the request. Monitor the email, SMS, account page, pickup notice, or delivery tracking provided by the authorized service.
PSA E-Certificate option
PSA announced the PSA E-Certificate Service in March 2026 through PSAHelpline. The service can provide a digitally signed PDF copy of a Death Certificate through a secure access link, with a QR code or verification process for authenticity. PSA states that its E-Certificate carries the same legal validity as the physical PSA document, but the organization receiving your document may still have its own submission-format rules. Confirm acceptance before ordering if the transaction is time-sensitive.
Viewable Online option
PSA has also offered a Viewable Online service through PSA Serbilis for digitally authenticated civil-registry documents. The service has its own access period and usage conditions. Treat a viewable document and an E-Certificate as separate service formats and follow the instructions of the institution asking for your record.
If the record cannot be found or has an error
An online order does not correct a civil-registry record. If the record is not available, contains a spelling or factual error, was registered late, or needs annotation, follow PSA or Local Civil Registry guidance for the appropriate correction, annotation, endorsement, or registration process. Do not repeatedly place paid orders expecting the underlying civil-registry entry to change automatically.
Privacy and delivery reminders
- Use only your own secure email, mobile number, and delivery address or an authorized recipient arrangement supported by the service.
- Do not post order numbers, certificate images, QR codes, or personal civil-registry information publicly.
- Review the spelling of the deceased person’s name and the delivery information before payment.
- Keep proof of payment and tracking details until the request is completed.
